New “A Candlemas Journey” picture book available!

Blending beautiful illustrations in the folk art style by Steffi Andrat Faria with the storytelling of Jeff Kenney is this new picture book adaptation of our audio drama, “A Candlemas Journey,” which weaves a tale combining adventure and intrigue with heritage, history, faith, and festivity. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

This book is part of the “Sacred Stories Sacred Seasons” series of picture books aimed at artful storytelling towards recovering the beauty and joy of ancient Christian feasts and festivals (another entry in the series, “Christmastide, Merry & Bright: An Adventure of the 12 Days of Christmas,” is available as well).

A new video version of the original audio drama, now featuring illustrations from the book, has also been released, and is available here.

In the story, it’s 40 days after Christmas — the Feast of the Presentation, or Candlemas — and the McKinney children’s visit to a family friend to secure a special guest for Groundhog Day brings about a story of a long-ago life-and-death adventure steeped in the deep history and meaning of one of Christianity’s oldest feasts…and a journey of faith and light in darkness.

More of Steffi Andrat Faria’s artwork can be seen on her Instagram page, here.

Relating to the story, check out the “Christian Origins of Groundhog Day” video on our sister channel, “Christian Origins of Nearly Everything,” for more on Candlemas, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, and the American holiday, Groundhog Day.
